Craft Roulette Episode 339: A Card on a Card for World Card Making Day

This week’s Craft Roulette episode was extra special because we were celebrating World Card Making Day on October 3rd! What better way to celebrate than by making a card with a little card tucked right into it?

For Episode 339, the project parameter was Card On a Card, and I decided to create an ATC (Artist’s Trading Card)and turn it into the focal point of a Faux Shaker Card.

My Craft Roulette Parameters

Project – Card On a Card
I created an ATC and added it to the front of my card, creating a fun little card-within-a-card design.

Colors – Celebration
I went with gold and yellow, two colors that definitely say celebration to me! The combination gives this card a bright, festive feel.

Element – Water
My ATC features a watercolor background on watercolor paper. I stepped outside my comfort zone with this mixed-media piece and had fun experimenting with the watercolor background.

I also added several other elements to the ATC, including gold cord and staples, giving it a little more texture and dimension.

Random – Confetti
The Faux Shaker portion of the card is filled with gold confetti stars. They add just the right amount of sparkle and movement—and make the celebration parameter even more obvious!

Craft Roulette Episode 337 – A Chilly Christmas Card

t’s time for another round of Craft Roulette, and Episode 337 gave us some fun parameters to play with!

Want to play along? Craft Roulette airs Fridays at 7:10 Eastern on YouTube. Come join us in the Chatterbox, see what Mr. Wheel comes up with, then put on your stretchy pants and give it a go!

The Parameters

Project: A2
I made a regular A2 card using a Peaceful Pine card base measuring 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4".

Colors: Pool Party
I went a little outside the box with the color parameter. I used the pretty blue-violet Hydrangea Hue, along with red for the red swimsuit and green for the pool noodle.

Element: Cold or Chilly
The snowflakes on my card definitely qualify as cold and chilly! And since Christmas happens in winter, I thought the combination worked perfectly for a fun holiday card.

Random: Check(s)
I found a way to sneak in some checks with a strip of Hydrangea Hue from Gingham Gallery Designer Series Paperalong the bottom of the card.

Hot Foiling Fun

For this card, I used the Graceful Evergreen Deer Hot Foil Bundle along with the Magical Christmas Hot Foil Dies. I love the touch of shine that hot foiling adds to a holiday card!

I also have a YouTube video sharing all the details of the card, along with a little tip that will make preparing for your hot foiling easier. If you've been wanting to try hot foiling, be sure to check it out!

I always love seeing how the Craft Roulette parameters inspire completely different cards. What would you make with these four parameters?

Grab your supplies, put on your stretchy pants, and give it a go!

Craft Roulette Episode 336 – Happy Birthday from the Coast

It’s time for another Craft Roulette challenge! For Episode 336, the prompts were Birthday Card, Happy Colors, Ship(s)(ing), and Sparkles. I had so much fun bringing these parameters together for this cheerful coastal birthday card!

The Craft Roulette Prompts

Project – Birthday Card
I made an A2 birthday card featuring a birthday sentiment created with the Sweetly Sentimental Hot Foil Dies. The hot foil sentiment adds a little extra shine and ties in beautifully with the card.

Colors – Happy Colors
For my happy colors, I reached for a piece of Scenic Coast Designer Series Paper. The beautiful colors of the sea definitely make me happy! There’s just something about a coastal scene that brings a smile to my face.

Element – Ship(s)(ing)
For the ship parameter, I used the net die from the Sunset Coast Dies. Since it’s a fishing net, I thought it was a fun way to interpret the ship(s)(ing) prompt without actually putting a ship on my card.

Random – Sparkles
Of course, I had to add some sparkle! I brushed Wink of Stella over the sunburst die cut for a subtle shimmer, and the Sunset Sparkle Sequins add even more sparkle and shine.

Join the Craft Roulette Fun!

If you’ve never played along with Craft Roulette, I hope you’ll give it a try! Craft Roulette airs Fridays at 7:10 Eastern on YouTube. Come join us in the Chatterbox, see what Mr. Wheel comes up with, and then put on your stretchy pants and give it a go!

You never know where those four parameters  will take you—and that’s part of the fun!

Craft Roulette Episode 335 – Fall Leaf Peeping Gatefold Card

It’s time for another Craft Roulette challenge! For Episode 335, Mr. Wheel gave us four fun parameters to work with:

  • Project: Gatefold
  • Colors: Vacation
  • Element: CAS from last week’s gallery
  • Random: Paper Strip(s)

I decided to take the Vacation prompt in a very fall-ish direction with a New England leaf-peeping vacation! 🍂🍁 There’s nothing quite like a road trip through New England when the leaves are showing off their gorgeous fall colors.

My A2 Gatefold Card

For the project, I made an A2 Gatefold card. The card base is an 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of cardstock, scored at 2 1/8" from each side and then folded toward the middle to create the gatefold.

For my fall colors, I used the beautiful colors found in my Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper. I love how perfectly these warm colors capture the feeling of a New England autumn vacation.

The CAS element was inspired by last week's Craft Roulette gallery. CAS means copy and selectively edit, and I chose to CASE Sharon Kastor's beautiful fall-colored card. I kept the basic design elements that caught my eye—an embossed background and a scalloped focal mat—while making the card my own.

I embossed my Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper using the Softly Woven Embossing Folder, which adds some wonderful texture without taking away from the pretty fall pattern.

For the sentiment, I used the Round About Messages stamp set and mounted it on the second-largest die from the Scalloped Christmas Cheer die set. The scalloped edge adds just the right amount of detail to the focal point.

And finally, Mr. Wheel wanted Paper Strip(s), so I added two 1/4" strips along the bottom of the sentiment layer. Sometimes those little finishing details are just what a card needs!

Join the Craft Roulette Fun!

If you haven't watched Craft Roulette yet, it airs Fridays at 7:10 Eastern on YouTube. Come join us in the Chatterboxto see what parameters Mr. Wheel comes up with—and then put on your stretchy pants and give it a go!

You never know what combination of prompts you'll get, and that's half the fun. I love seeing how everyone interprets the same parameters in completely different ways.

I hope my fall leaf-peeping vacation Gatefold card inspires you to give Craft Roulette a try! 🍁

Craft Roulette Episode 334 – An ATC Takes Center Stage!

It’s time for another Craft Roulette challenge! For Episode 334, one of the parameters was Include an ATC (Artist Trading Card), and I decided to make the ATC the focal point of my A2 card.

If you’re not familiar with ATCs, they measure 2 1/2" x 3 1/2"—the perfect little canvas for a creative scene. I used the adorable Silly Old Bear Designer Series Paper to create mine.

The ATC

I started by cutting one of the panels from the Silly Old Bear Designer Series Paper to 2 1/4" x 3 1/4". I layered it onto a 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" piece of Hydrangea Hue cardstock, creating my ATC.

Winnie the Pooh is sitting happily on a tree branch, which worked perfectly for another one of our Craft Roulette parameters: Trees!

I also fussy-cut Tigger, Eeyore, and the honey jars from the Silly Old Bear Designer Series Paper using the coordinating Sweet Old Friends Dies. These little pieces add even more personality to the card.

Putting the Card Together

My A2 card base is Mossy Meadow.

For the next layer, I cut a piece of Golden Glow cardstock to 5 1/4" x 3 1/2" and embossed it with the Hundred Acre Woods 3D Embossing Folder. The texture adds a fun woodland feel behind the ATC.

I added 5 1/4" x 1" strips as additional layers to help frame the focal point.

The sentiment comes from the Sweet Words & Labels Dies.

Craft Roulette Parameters

Here’s how my card came together using the four Episode 334 parameters:

Project – Include an ATC:
The 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" ATC became the focal point of my A2 card.

Colors – Produce Aisle:
The colors in the Silly Old Bear Designer Series Paper reminded me of the produce aisle—carrots, green beans, eggplant, and ginger root.

Element – Tree(s):
Winnie is sitting on a tree branch, so this one was a natural fit!

Random – Use 3 Circles:
I added three Hydrangea Hue In Color Dots for my three circles.

I love how all four parameters came together to create a playful Winnie the Pooh-themed card!

Where to Find the Products

The Silly Old Bear Designer Series Paper, Sweet Old Friends Dies, and other Winnie the Pooh products I used are available in the Online Exclusives section of my Stampin’ Up! online store.

A Christmas Card for Moose | Craft Roulette Episode 333

It’s time for another fun Craft Roulette challenge! Episode 333 brought us a 4" x 6" card, and this week’s prompts were:

  • Project: 4" x 6" Card
  • Colors: Buffet
  • Element: Holiday
  • Random: Bark

I decided to make a Christmas card for my grandson, whose nickname is Moose. That made my retired Merry Moose Stamp Set and Moose Punch the perfect choice! I originally purchased these products for him, and even though they’re retired, I’m definitely keeping them around for cards for my favorite Moose. 🫎

For the Buffet colors, I went with a Christmas dinner theme—Turkey, Cranberries, and Green Beans! And for the Holiday element, Christmas was an easy choice.

Our guest, Chelsie Comber, challenged us to use three of something, so I added three red, foiled stars to my card. The stars, along with the sentiments, are from the new Magical Christmas Hot Foil Dies, which will be available September 1st. I love the little bit of shine they add!

The Bark prompt was a fun one, too. The pine trees have bark, so I think that counts! 😉 The Peaceful Pine Designer Series Paper from the Gingham Gallery pack worked perfectly with the Christmas and woodland theme.

I really enjoy seeing how everyone interprets the Craft Roulette prompts. There are always so many creative ideas and completely different takes on the same four challenges!

Want to join the fun? Come hang out with us in the Craft Roulette Chatterbox on Fridays at 7:10 Eastern Time. I’d love to see what you come up with!

Here's my latest submission on Youtube:

Supplies: Merry Moose Stamp Set and Moose Punch (retired), Magical Christmas Hot Foil Dies (available September 1), Gingham Gallery Designer Series Paper, and Stampin’ Up! cardstock and foiling products.

Craft Roulette Episode 332 – A Country Card with a Little Pooh Magic

Craft Roulette is always a fun challenge because you never quite know where the creative journey will take you! For Episode 332, the project was a Square Card, and I created a 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" card featuring some adorable friends from the Silly Old Bear Designer Series Paper.

This week's parameters were Project – Square Card, Colors – Excited, Element – Country, and Random – Frame(s).Here's how I interpreted them!

The Colors – Excited!

The colors for this challenge were Hydrangea Hue, Golden Glow, and Mossy Meadow. These colors immediately made me think of my favorite season—Fall! There is something about those rich, beautiful colors together that feels exciting to me.

I started with a piece of Early Espresso Cardstock measuring 8 1/2" x 4 1/4", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4".

For the next layer, I used Hydrangea Hue Cardstock cut to 4" x 4". I embossed it with the 100 Acre Woods Embossing Folder and then used a blending brush to add more Hydrangea Hue ink over the embossed design. This little bit of extra ink really helps bring out the details and adds some depth to the background.

The Element – Country

When I think of "country," I immediately think of Pooh and his friends living in the country. That made the Silly Old Bear DSP a perfect choice!

And, of course, the 100 Acre Woods Embossing Folder fits the country theme perfectly. It gives the background that wonderful woodland feel that reminds me of the Hundred Acre Wood.

I used the coordinating Sweet Words & Labels Dies to cut out my focal image, along with the leaves and acorn.

The main image is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals, giving it some extra dimension and making it stand out from the embossed background.

The Random Element – Frame(s)

The random element was Frame(s), and I had fun finding more than one way to incorporate that requirement!

My focal image already has a frame around it, so that was an easy connection. But I also created a frame around my sentiment using my Golden Glow Shimmer Brush.

It's always fun when a random element gives you a chance to look at your supplies in a different way!

Finishing Touches

I added the pretty Mossy Meadow Gingham Ribbon, which I absolutely love with these colors. Just a little heads-up—this ribbon won't be available until September 1st, when the new catalog debuts.

I finished the card with the 2026–2028 In Color Dots for a little extra sparkle and detail.

And there's another thing I really love about this design—it fits inside a regular A2 envelope! Even though it's a square card, the 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" size makes mailing it easy.

I have a short video on Youtube for you to watch:

Craft Roulette Episode 331 – 4" X 8" Meant For You Ephemera Card

Craft Roulette Episode 331 was another fun challenge—and this time, the ever-popular May May Helms was the guest! I always enjoy seeing what everyone creates from the four random parameters.

For this episode, the Project was a 4" x 8" Card, which I believe is a Craft Roulette specialty. My finished card measures 4" x 8", making it quite a bit larger than the cards I usually make.

The Craft Roulette Parameters

🎨 Colors – Excited

I think my bright pinks, yellows, and greens definitely qualify as excited colors! I used the cheerful colors from the Everyday Essentials Designer Series Paper, which were perfect for creating a bright and happy card.

🍋 Element – Cold or Chilly

What says cold and refreshing better than lemonade and watermelon? I used ephemera pieces featuring these summery treats to bring the "Cold or Chilly" prompt to life.

The sentiment from the Sweet Words & Labels Stamp Set was absolutely perfect for this card, too. I paired it with pieces from the Meant For You Ephemera Pack for some extra fun.

🧵 Random – Stitches

The Stitches prompt was an easy one to incorporate. The square dies and the sentiment banner from the Stylish Shapes Dies both have stitched borders, adding that little bit of texture and detail the card needed.

A BIG Card!

I'll admit—I wasn't thrilled about making such a large card! A 4" x 8" card is definitely outside my usual comfort zone, especially since I don't have an envelope that size.

But that's not really a problem because I can make one! 😊

And that's one of the things I enjoy most about Craft Roulette. The prompts force me to think outside the box, try something different, and use supplies that might otherwise be sitting in my craft room waiting for their turn.

Join me on Youtube to see how breaking away from a standard size card is still FUNN!

Join the Fun!

If you haven't watched Craft Roulette, you should join us sometime! It's a fun challenge show that airs Friday evenings on YouTube at 6:10 Central Time.

I love seeing where the four random parameters take me each week. Sometimes the result is exactly what I imagined—and sometimes it takes me somewhere completely unexpected!

That's part of the fun of crafting. 💕

Until next time, keep creating and have fun thinking outside the box!

Happy Stamping,
Jean

Craft Roulette Episode 330 – Tag With Pocket Challenge

Some weeks the Craft Roulette wheel gives me an idea right away...and then there are weeks like Episode 330! This challenge definitely had me scratching my head, so I decided to take the project requirement literally and create a Tag With Pocket.

I used the Everyday Arches Dies to create a large tag and added a pocket at the bottom. The pocket was created with paper from the Spooktacular 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper, and I customized it by coloring the images with my Stampin' Blends.

This Week's Parameters

Project: Tag With Pocket
I created a large tag with a functional pocket attached to the bottom.

Colors: Trick or Treat
I chose traditional Halloween colors—Black, Purple, Orange, and Yellow—to bring the spooky theme to life.

Element: Robots
For this parameter, I cut a second tag and stamped Roulette the Robot from the exclusive Mug Club stamp set. I was thrilled to earn this set after reaching 100 Craft Roulette submissions and becoming a Mug Club member!

Random: 3 Strips of Paper
My sentiment is layered using three strips of paper. The top strip features a sentiment created with the Sweetly Sentimental Hot Foil Die Set using Gold Foil on Basic Black, with two coordinating strips underneath. I love keeping these sentiments on hand because one die creates 11 beautiful foiled sentiments ready for future projects.

I also created a YouTube highlight video so you can take a closer look at my finished tag and hear more about how I interpreted this week's challenge.

Craft Roulette airs every Friday at 6:10 PM Central Time, and I hope you'll join us in the Chatterbox for this FUNNcard-making challenge! Be warned—you may need your stretchy pants because the creative wheel can really make you think!

Have you played Craft Roulette yet? I'd love to see how you interpreted this week's parameters. Happy stamping!

Craft Roulette Episode 329 – Bookbinding Card with Waterside Retreat

Welcome back to another Craft Roulette challenge! Episode 329 inspired me to create one of my favorite fun folds—a Horizontal Bookbinding Card. This design is simple to make, stands beautifully for display, and is always a favorite for card makers of every skill level.

For this week's parameters, I incorporated all four challenges into my design:

  • Project: Bookbinding Card
  • Colors: Roadside Market – Cucumber Green, Blueberry, and Cantaloupe
  • Element: Plant(s)
  • Random: Grid

The beautiful Waterside Retreat Designer Series Paper made creating this peaceful fishing-themed birthday card so easy. I fussy cut several individual fish from the paper and layered three of them over the matching background using Stampin' Dimensionals for added depth. To give the fish a subtle shimmer, I brushed each one with Wink of Stella, creating the look of sunlight reflecting on the water.

For the birthday greeting, I used the Relaxing Waterside Stamp Set, keeping the design clean and allowing the gorgeous patterned paper to take center stage. Sea plants appear on both the front and inside of the card, tying in perfectly with this week's plant element.

To satisfy the Grid parameter, I added a strip of Peaceful Pine Gingham Gallery Designer Series Paper along the inside panel. It provides just the right finishing touch without taking away from the focal point.

Card Measurements

  • Card Base: 4-1/4" x 11"
  • Score at 4-1/4" and 5-1/2"
  • Front & Inside Basic White Panels: 4" x 4"
  • Side Strip: 1" x 4"

I also have a new YouTube video showcasing this card. In the video description, I've linked an earlier tutorial with complete step-by-step instructions for making this easy Bookbinding Card.

If you've never watched Craft Roulette, it's a live YouTube show every Friday at 6:10 PM Central Time, where four surprise crafting parameters are revealed by Mr. Wheel. It's always exciting to see what creative challenge comes next!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope this project inspires you to give the Bookbinding Card a try. If you make one, I'd love to see your version!

Happy crafting!

Craft Roulette Episode 328 – Bright Tutti Frutti Bicycle Card

Friday night means Craft Roulette, and Episode 328 gave us another fun set of creative parameters! One of my favorite things about Craft Roulette is seeing how everyone interprets the same four prompts in completely different ways.

Here are this week's parameters and how I used them:

Project – A2
My card is a standard A2 card, created from half of an 8½" x 11" piece of cardstock, scored and folded at 4¼".

Colors – Tutti Frutti
I filled my card with bright, cheerful orange, yellow, blue, green, and pink—perfect Tutti Frutti-inspired colors that make this design feel fresh and happy.

Element – Container
The adorable bicycle basket serves as my container, overflowing with colorful flowers.

Random – Unusual Color
I gave a couple of the daisies a bright blue color, something you don't often see in nature, and even colored the road tealfor another unexpected pop of color.

The cheerful sentiment comes from our July Product of the Month, the Begonia Belle Stamp Set. I stamped it on a stitched cloud die cut from the retired Bright Skies Dies, adding a whimsical touch to the scene.

The bicycle and flowers are from Dare 2B Artzy and were colored with Stampin' Blends markers. I layered everything using the Perennial Postage Dies, which frame the design beautifully and add wonderful texture.

This card was so much fun to create, and I love how the bright colors and playful details came together!

If you've never watched Craft Roulette, I hope you'll join us Friday evenings at 6:10 PM Central Time as host Mary Gunn and her special guest spin the wheel to reveal four brand-new creative parameters. You never know what the wheel will come up with, and that's what makes it so much fun!

I'd love to hear how you would interpret this week's parameters. Thanks for stopping by, and happy crafting!

Happy Stamping,

Jean

Craft Roulette Episode #327 – Floating Panel Interactive Card

It's time for another Craft Roulette challenge! Episode 327 gave us another fun combination of creative parameters, and I had a great time bringing them together in this interactive Floating Panel Card.

This week's parameters were:

  • Project: Interactive Card
  • Colors: Summer
  • Element: Here Comes the Bride
  • Random: Ink Edging

For my interactive card, I chose to create a Floating Panel Card. This is such a fun fold because the center panel appears to float when the card is opened, creating a delightful surprise for the recipient. If you'd like to make one yourself, I have a YouTube video tutorial that walks you through the entire process.

To capture the feeling of summer, I selected beautiful flowers that would be in bloom during the season. The focal point features a lovely bridal bouquet, and I added a wedding ring set beside it to represent the "Here Comes the Bride" element.

For the Ink Edging parameter, I used a sponge dauber to softly ink the edges of the pink arch and the sentiment, giving both pieces added depth and definition.

I combined several wonderful Stampin' Up! products for this project, including:

  • Meant For You Ephemera Pack
  • Everyday Essentials Designer Series Paper
  • Sweetly Sentimental Hot Foil Dies for the greeting
  • Everyday Arches Dies to create the floating panel
  • Stone & Vine Embossing Folder for the decorative stopper inside the card

I always enjoy seeing how the four random parameters inspire completely different creations from everyone participating. That's one of the things that makes Craft Roulette so much fun!

Be sure to watch my YouTube tutorial to see exactly how this interactive card comes together, and if you've never watched Craft Roulette before, I invite you to join us every Friday at 7:10 PM Central Time. It's always exciting to see what the spin of the wheel will bring!

Happy stamping!

Craft Roulette Episode 326 – A Funn Dude Card

It's time for another Craft Roulette challenge! Episode 326 gave us some fun parameters that came together perfectly for a card I made especially for my youngest grandson.

This Week's Craft Roulette Parameters

  • Project: A Dude's Card
  • Colors: Sleigh Ride
  • Element: Farm Critters
  • Random: Pen

I created a side-fold A2 card using an 8½" x 5½" piece of Golden Glow Card Stock, scored and folded at 4¼".

The background layer measures 5¼" x 4" and features the beautiful 2026–2028 Gingham Gallery Designer Series Paper, one of the exciting new Online Exclusives available in my online store. I paired it with the adorable Fun For Fall Bundle, another brand-new Online Exclusive that was perfect for meeting this week's challenge.

For the focal scene, I blended Balmy Blue Ink across the top of the Basic White layer to create a soft sky and Old Olive Ink along the bottom for the grassy ground. I then added the die-cut images from the Fun For Fall Bundle to build this cheerful scene.

The Sleigh Ride color inspiration came together with touches of red, green, blue, yellow, and gold throughout the design. For the Farm Critters element, I included the crows—they're right at home on the farm! To satisfy the Penparameter, I used my White Gel Pen to highlight the buttons on the overalls and a black pen to add detail lines to the waistband.

I had so much fun creating this card, and I think my grandson will enjoy receiving it. Sometimes the Craft Roulette parameters really stretch your creativity, and that's what makes it so much fun!

If you've never watched Craft Roulette, I hope you'll join us every Friday at 6:10 PM Central Time on YouTube. Mr. Wheel spins to reveal four surprise parameters, and card makers everywhere create projects to match. It's a wonderful creative challenge and always an entertaining show.

Thanks for stopping by, and as always...

Craft Roulette Episode 325 - Flip Fold Card

It's time for another Craft Roulette challenge! If you've never watched, Craft Roulette is a live YouTube show where four random parameters are revealed, and card makers have just two days, (unless you're a member),  to create a project that fits them all. I absolutely love how these unexpected combinations push me to try new ideas, and this week's card is one of my favorites!

Episode 325 Parameters

  • Project: Flip Fold Card
  • Colors: Tartan
  • Element: Time or Clock
  • Random: Add a Bow

For my project, I created a Flip Fold Card following a wonderful YouTube tutorial by Gina K. I chose a Golden Glowcard base and paired it with the gorgeous Moonlit Flora Designer Series Paper. The rich gold and green tones fit the Tartan color challenge beautifully.

To meet the Time or Clock parameter, I used a sentiment featuring the word "Timeless." I finished the sentiment with a delicate gold bow to satisfy the random parameter of adding a bow.

One of my favorite features of this card is the stunning butterflies from the new Gilded Wings Accents pack. This 12" x 12" sheet of gold foil includes an assortment of beautifully detailed butterflies in a variety of sizes and styles. They'll be available beginning July 1 in the Online Exclusives section of my Stampin' Up! store for just $10, and I have a feeling they're going to become a favorite embellishment!

I also added touches of sparkle with the new Peaceful Pine Shimmer Brush. The tiny flecks of shimmering green were exactly what this card needed to bring everything together.

On the inside, I lightly blended Golden Glow Ink across the writing panel, then used the negative portion of a leaf stencil to blend Old Olive Ink, creating a soft leafy background. A small gold butterfly finishes the inside perfectly.

I truly love how this card turned out! It's a design I probably never would have imagined on my own, and that's exactly why I enjoy participating in Craft Roulette each week. The crazy parameters inspire creativity in the best possible way.

Be sure to join the fun by watching Craft Roulette live every Friday evening at 6:10 PM Central on YouTube. Whether you create along or simply enjoy watching everyone's interpretations, it's always an inspiring time!

Silly Old Bear Horizontal Easel Card

Craft Roulette Episode 324 – Horizontal Easel Card

It's time for another Craft Roulette challenge! For Episode 324, the parameters were:

  • Project: Easel Card
  • Colors: Craft Store
  • Element: Table
  • Random: Add a Bug(s)

I created a Horizontal Easel Card using products from the adorable Silly Old Bear Suite. Sometimes the perfect card starts with the perfect paper, and that's exactly what happened this week. The Designer Series Paper included a scene panel that fit the parameters beautifully.

For the Craft Store color theme, all of my colors were inspired by what you might find in the paper aisle of your favorite craft store. The cheerful colors in the Silly Old Bear paper worked perfectly for this challenge.

The Table element was easy to incorporate because the Pooh characters are gathered around a table, enjoying time together. For the Add a Bug(s) parameter, I added a sweet little bee trinket to the leaf in the lower left corner of the card.

If you've never made an Easel Card before, don't let the fun fold scare you. Easel Cards are actually one of the easiest fun folds to create!

For this horizontal version, I started with a piece of cardstock measuring 5-1/2" x 8-1/2". Score and fold it in half at 4-1/4", then fold the front panel in half again at 2-1/8". That's the basic easel mechanism! Simply add a panel to the lower portion of the card front and create a decorative "stopper" to hold the easel upright when displayed.

I love fun folds that look impressive but are simple to make, and this design definitely fits the bill.

If you're not familiar with Craft Roulette, it airs live every Friday at 6:10 PM Central Time on YouTube. Each week four random parameters are spun, and crafters around the world create projects inspired by the results. It's a fun, creative challenge and a wonderful community to be part of.

Thanks for stopping by! I'd love to hear if you've made an Easel Card before, and if not, I hope you'll give this easy fun fold a try.

Wild Bunch Paper Pieced Card

Craft Roulette Episode 323 – A7 Card

It's time for another round of Craft Roulette, and this week was Episode 323! The parameters were fun to work with and inspired me to create a colorful 5" x 7" A7 card featuring one of my favorite new stamp sets.

Project: A7 Card
My card measures 5" x 7", giving me plenty of room to showcase all the details.

Colors: Pretty
When I heard the color prompt was Pretty, I immediately thought of my granddaughters' favorite colors. I chose shades of rose, pink, yellow, blue, and coral to create a cheerful and feminine design. The colors in the Beautiful Ordinary Day Designer Series Paper were perfect for this challenge.

Element: Photo Booth
For the photo booth element, I used a Polaroid-style picture frame accented with a photo strip border. It was a fun way to incorporate the theme while highlighting my focal image.

Random: Geometric Shapes
Geometric shapes were easy to find throughout my card. The Plaid Embossing Folder creates a wonderful pattern of rectangles and squares, while the Beautiful Ordinary Day Designer Series Paper includes circles, hexagons, and other geometric designs.

The adorable snail is from the June Product of the Month, the Wild Bunch Stamp Set. I wanted her to be extra fancy, so I paper pieced her shell using coordinating patterned paper. I love how much personality that simple technique adds!

Did you know you can get the Wild Bunch Stamp Set for just $5 with a minimum $75 order from my online store during June? It's such a fun set for creating cute and whimsical cards.

I look forward to Craft Roulette every week. The challenges encourage me to use my supplies in ways I never would have imagined, and I always enjoy seeing what everyone creates from the same four parameters.

Join us for Craft Roulette on YouTube every Friday evening at 6:10 Central Time and see where the wheel takes us next!

Craft Roulette Episode 318 – Ardyth’s Square Card Challenge

I’m sharing the card I created for Episode 318 of Craft Roulette Episode 318! This week’s parameters led me to a bright coastal design filled with layers, texture, and cheerful seaside colors.

This Week’s Craft Roulette Parameters

  • Project: Ardyth’s Square
  • Colors: May Garden
  • Element: Textile
  • Random: 3 Layers

For the project parameter, I created a 4 1/4” x 4 1/4” square card, affectionately known as an Ardyth’s Square, named after frequent Craft Roulette guest Ardyth Percy-Robb. It’s her favorite card size, and it makes such a fun canvas to design on! Using products from the Scenic Coast Suite Collection made it easy.

To capture the May Garden color palette, I used papers from the Scenic Coast collection featuring beautiful shades of Marigold Orange, Tulip Pink, Hydrangea Blues, and soft purples. The colors reminded me of a warm seaside sunset garden in bloom.

For the Textile element, I tucked strands of pulled burlap fibers behind the seashell cluster. The loose threads add wonderful texture and a relaxed coastal feel.

And although the random parameter called for 3 layers, my finished design ended up with five layers:

  1. Card Base
  2. Scenic Coast patterned paper
  3. Lighthouse die cut
  4. Seashell die cuts with burlap fibers
  5. Sunset Sparkle Sequins

I love how all the layers add depth and dimension while still keeping the design balanced.

I also created a YouTube video sharing the finished card along with a demonstration and measurements so you can recreate the design yourself!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! This coastal square card was such a fun interpretation of the Episode 318 parameters, and I always enjoy seeing how everyone creates something completely different from the same challenge prompts.

Craft Roulette Episode 317 – Going BIG with an A9 (and Making It Work!)

Craft Roulette Episode 317 brought the creative fun with special guest Kristina Werner—and let me tell you, this one stretched me in more ways than one!

The Parameters:

  • Project: A9
  • Colors: Florist Shop
  • Element: Birthday(s)
  • Random: Something from your “Mesk” (Messy Desk)

Let’s Talk About That A9…

An A9 card is no joke—it starts as a full 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of cardstock, folded in half to create an 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" card. That’s HUGE! Honestly, I couldn’t imagine making a card that big and then not really having a practical use for it… so I pivoted.

Instead of a traditional card, I turned mine into a picture folder/mini album—something that feels more like a gift than just a card. Much better, right?

Florist Shop Colors = YES PLEASE 🌸

For my color palette, I used all the brand-new upcoming In Colors:

  • Barely Blush
  • Hydrangea Hue
  • Golden Glow
  • Peaceful Pine
  • Crisp Cantaloupe

These colors absolutely scream florist shop vibes—soft, fresh, and full of life. They paired beautifully with the Bloom Boutique Designer Series Paper, which really helped tie everything together.

Birthday Element

I kept it simple but meaningful by adding a “Happy Birthday” die cut—perfect for the theme and easy to incorporate into the design of the album.

Something from My “Mesk”

This might be my favorite part! I already had a pile of butterflies punched out using the All Aflutter Bundle (because… messy desk life 😄). I brought them to life by coloring them with the new In Color Stampin’ Blends, and they added the perfect whimsical touch.

Turning It Into a Mini Album

To make the large format more functional, I added three 4" x 6" Flip Flap pocket pages inside. Now it holds photos and becomes a keepsake—so much more meaningful than a giant card that might get tucked away.

I also used the Boutique Blossoms Bundle to add layered floral elements throughout, enhancing that florist shop aesthetic.

Final Thoughts

This challenge definitely pushed me outside my comfort zone. I’m really glad I accepted it… but let’s just say I’m not in a hurry to make another A9 anytime soon 😂

If you’ve never watched Craft Roulette, it’s such a fun and inspiring weekly challenge! You can catch it live on YouTube every Friday evening at 6:10pm Central. As host Mary Gunn always says—the parameters are challenging, but they’re always doable!

🎥 I’ll have a YouTube process video coming soon where I walk through exactly how I created this project—stay tuned!

Have you ever tried an A9 card or turned a card into something more functional? I’d love to hear what you would do with a project this size!
