I’m sharing the card I created for Episode 318 of Craft Roulette Episode 318! This week’s parameters led me to a bright coastal design filled with layers, texture, and cheerful seaside colors.
This Week’s Craft Roulette Parameters
- Project: Ardyth’s Square
- Colors: May Garden
- Element: Textile
- Random: 3 Layers
For the project parameter, I created a 4 1/4” x 4 1/4” square card, affectionately known as an Ardyth’s Square, named after frequent Craft Roulette guest Ardyth Percy-Robb. It’s her favorite card size, and it makes such a fun canvas to design on! Using products from the Scenic Coast Suite Collection made it easy.
To capture the May Garden color palette, I used papers from the Scenic Coast collection featuring beautiful shades of Marigold Orange, Tulip Pink, Hydrangea Blues, and soft purples. The colors reminded me of a warm seaside sunset garden in bloom.
For the Textile element, I tucked strands of pulled burlap fibers behind the seashell cluster. The loose threads add wonderful texture and a relaxed coastal feel.
And although the random parameter called for 3 layers, my finished design ended up with five layers:
- Card Base
- Scenic Coast patterned paper
- Lighthouse die cut
- Seashell die cuts with burlap fibers
- Sunset Sparkle Sequins
I love how all the layers add depth and dimension while still keeping the design balanced.
I also created a YouTube video sharing the finished card along with a demonstration and measurements so you can recreate the design yourself!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! This coastal square card was such a fun interpretation of the Episode 318 parameters, and I always enjoy seeing how everyone creates something completely different from the same challenge prompts.
