Have you ever made a card that looks super intricate, but is actually surprisingly simple? That’s exactly what this Quilt Card is! I was inspired by a beautiful quilt-style card design I saw on YouTube by Sharon Lim, and I tweaked the layout just a bit to make it my own.
The result is a dimensional, eye-catching card that really lets your paper do the work. If you love patterned paper, this is a fantastic way to showcase it!
Products Used
- Brushed With Beauty Designer Series Paper
- Thanks & Beyond Paper Pumpkin Add-On Die Set
- Stone & Vine Embossing Folder
Card Measurements & Assembly
- Card Base
Start with a 4 1/4" x 11" card base. Score and fold at 5 1/2". - Embossed Layer
Cut a piece of cardstock to 4" x 4" and emboss it using any Embossing Folder. Adhere to the card front. - Middle Layer
Add a 3" x 3" square (cardstock or designer paper) centered on the embossed layer. - Quilt Fold Pieces
- Cut two pieces of Designer Series Paper to 3" x 3".
- Fold each square diagonally to create triangles.
- Adhere them onto the 3" x 3" layer, placing the folded edges together in the middle diaganolly to form the quilt effect.
- Center Square
Add a 2" x 2" square to the center (I used one from the Stylish Shapes Die Set). - Final Folding Detail
Fold down the top points of the left and right triangles to enhance the quilted look. - Decorate
Add a sentiment or embellishments as desired—but honestly, you don’t need much! The folded paper design creates such a beautiful focal point all on its own.
Final Thoughts
This card is a perfect example of how a simple technique can create a “wow” effect. It’s great for using up your favorite Designer Series Papers and works for so many occasions depending on your colors and sentiment.
If you’ve been hesitant to try quilt-style cards, this is a wonderful place to start—easy, fun, and so rewarding!
Happy crafting! ✂️💛
