Craft Roulette Episode 309 – Another Mini Slimline!

Can you believe the project parameter for Craft Roulette Episode 309 was a Mini Slimline Card? That made me smile because I’ve been making quite a few of them lately! I guess all that practice came in handy.

For my card, I used my favorite Mini Slimline size that measures 5 1/2" x 2 3/4". One of the things I love about this size is how efficient it is with cardstock. You can get three card bases from one sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock.

Here’s how easy it is:

  • Place the 11" side at the top of your scoring tool

  • Score at 5 1/2"

  • Cut three strips at 2 3/4"

That’s it! You’ll only have a very small strip leftover. If you’d like to see exactly how I make them, I also have a Mini Slimline Tutorial on my Jean’s Paper Jewels YouTube Channel.

Craft Roulette Parameters

Project: Mini Slimline Card
As I mentioned, my card base measures 5 1/2" x 2 3/4", which is my go-to Mini Slimline size.

Colors: Jolly Colors
For my jolly color palette, I chose Poppy Parade, Lemon Lolly, and Granny Apple Green. Those bright, happy colors definitely feel jolly to me!

Element: In The Kitchen
The adorable dogs on my card have been busy leaving little paw prints in the kitchen. I created those paw prints using a stencil along the bottom of the card.

Random: Masking
Since I used a stencil, that covered the masking parameter perfectly.

Card Details

The adorable images come from the Cutest Crew Bundle, which really is one of the cutest sets ever. The Poppy Parade layer is embossed with the Lovely Stripes Embossing Folder, adding just the right amount of texture to the design.

I love how the bright colors, playful pups, and paw print details all come together to make this card fun and cheerful.

Why I Love Craft Roulette

Craft Roulette airs every Friday at 6:10 PM Central Time on YouTube, and it’s one of my favorite creative challenges. The parameters always push me to think outside the box and try new ideas. Sometimes they even line up perfectly with what I’ve been crafting lately—like this Mini Slimline card!

This challenge is such a great way to stretch creativity and experiment with different techniques.

Thanks for stopping by today! ✂️✨

Three Quick Mini Slimline Cards with Painted Illusions Designer Series Paper

Sometimes the simplest cards are the most fun to make! Today I’m sharing three Mini Slimline Cards I created using the bright and colorful Painted Illusions 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, the February Product of the Month. The paper pack is still available, and the bold patterns make it perfect for quick cards.

My Mini Slimline cards measure 2 3/4" x 5 1/2", and they are incredibly fast to create.

How to Make Three Card Bases Fast

You can make three card bases in a flash from a single sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock:

  1. Score the cardstock at 5 1/2" on the long side.

  2. Cut three strips that are 2 3/4" wide.

  3. Fold each strip on the score line to create three Mini Slimline cards.

You’ll only have a tiny scrap left, which makes this a great way to maximize your cardstock!

Designer Paper Layers

For each card I used two pieces of Designer Series Paper measuring:

2 1/2" x 5 1/4"

  • One layer on the front of the card

  • One layer on the inside

This little extra detail on the inside really finishes the card nicely.

Decorating the Cards

One of my favorite things about these Mini Slimline cards is that they are perfect for using up leftover pieces from other projects. I often add:

  • Extra sentiments

  • Labels

  • Die cuts

  • Embellishments

Since the card front is smaller, even tiny pieces look great and nothing goes to waste.

These cards can be decorated for any season or any occasion, making them wonderful to keep on hand.

Envelope Options

Another great thing about this size is that the cards fit several different envelopes:

  • A2 Medium Envelope

  • #15 Coin Envelope

  • Standard letter-size envelope

You can also make a custom envelope, and I have a YouTube video showing how to do that as well.

Watch the Video

I shared a YouTube video on my Jean's Paper Jewels channel several years ago showing just how quickly these Mini Slimline cards come together. If you’d like to see the process in action, be sure to check it out!

Send Some Happy Mail

I hope you’ll give these quick Mini Slimline cards a try. They are fun, economical, and a great way to use your supplies.

Most importantly, don’t forget to mail them out. A handmade card can truly brighten someone’s day.

Mini Slimline Z-Fold Card for an Instagram Hop

For my recent Instagram Hop, I created a fun and festive Mini Slimline Z-Fold Card—and I just love how much impact these little cards make!

Mini Slimline cards can be made in a variety of sizes. Most are created from a 6" x 6" card base folded in half to make a 6" x 3" card. Another common size is 6" x 3 1/4". For my project, I chose to make a Z-Fold style card.

Card Measurements:

  • Card Stock: 3" x 12" White Willow Card Stock

  • Score at: 3" and 6"

  • Finished (closed) size: 6" x 3"

The Z-Fold adds a fun interactive element while still keeping that sleek mini slimline look.

Supplies I Used:

  • Easter Basket Bundle

  • Easter Joy Designer Series Paper

  • Stylish Shapes Dies (for the square die cuts)

The patterned paper and layered square dies really help create dimension and visual interest on the narrow card front.

Envelope Options

Mini Slimline cards fit several envelope sizes. I used:

  • 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" (#15 Coin Envelope)

  • They also fit in 3 5/8" x 6 1/2" standard envelopes

I purchased my envelopes from Dollar Tree for just $1.25. Of course, you can always create your own custom envelope to perfectly match your card design!

I hope you’ll give Mini Slimline cards a try. They may be small, but they truly pack a big punch for their size! I’ll be back soon with more Mini Slimline inspiration. 💛

Card With A Removable Bookmark For Craft Roulette Episode 308

If you love a creative challenge, you know I can’t resist playing along with Craft Roulette! Episode 308 was such a fun one, and as always, those spins from Mr. Wheel had me thinking outside the box.

You can catch Craft Roulette every Friday at 7:10pm Central Time on YouTube—and trust me, it’s always an adventure!

Episode 308 Parameters

Project – Card with a Bookmark
For this challenge, I created a Bookmark Card using a tutorial by Connie Stevens. This design is interactive and practical—perfect for tucking a removable bookmark inside a beautiful handmade card. It’s especially thoughtful for friends who still love turning the pages of a real book instead of reading on an electronic device!

Colors – Circus
The February Product of the Month is the Painted Illusions 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper Pack, and it was absolutely perfect for this theme. The particular pattern I chose reminded me of the flowy silk scarves that aerial performers swirl and spin high above the circus floor. The dreamy movement in the paper really captures that whimsical circus feel.

Element – Hug(s)
I used the sweet sentiment from Banner Sayings:
“Consider Yourself Hugged.”
What a perfect phrase for a card meant to be treasured and used again and again as a bookmark!

Random – Feathers
To incorporate feathers, I added the adorable birds from the Cutest Crew Stamp Set (available February 3rd). The “glad we’re friends” sentiment pairs beautifully with the hug theme, and those sweet feathered friends add such charm and personality to the design.

This card checks all the boxes:

  • Interactive and functional

  • Whimsical circus-inspired colors

  • A heartfelt hug in sentiment form

  • Feathered friends for that random twist

I love how Craft Roulette pushes me creatively. Every week Mr. Wheel sends us in unexpected directions, and I always enjoy stretching my imagination to make all the parameters work together in a cohesive design.

If you haven’t watched Craft Roulette yet, join us on Fridays—you’ll be amazed at what can be created in just one hour with four surprise parameters!

Let me know… are you team real books or team e-reader? 📚

Easy DIY Paper Easter Basket

Creating a sweet little Easter treat holder doesn’t have to be complicated! Today I’m sharing how to make an easy paper Easter Basket using the Easter Basket Bundle and the coordinating Easter Joy 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper. This simple project is perfect for table favors, small treats, or thoughtful handmade gifts.

🐰 Easy Paper Easter Basket Tutorial

✂️ Supplies:

  • Easter Basket Bundle

  • Easter Joy 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper

  • Paper Trimmer & Scoring Tool

  • Bone Folder

  • Tombow Multipurpose Glue or Tear & Tape

  • Cardstock (optional for base)

📏 Basket Measurements & Scoring

  1. Start with a 6" x 6" piece of designer paper.

  2. Score at 2" and 4".

  3. Turn the paper and score again at 2" and 4".

  4. Burnish all score lines with a bone folder.

✂️ Cutting

  • On opposite sides, cut the middle tabs up to the score lines.

  • These will form the sides of your basket.

🧺 Assembling the Basket

  • Using Tombow Multipurpose Glue or Tear & Tape, glue the right side down first, then fold and glue the left side over it.

  • This creates the box shape of your basket.

🎀 Adding a Decorative Base (Optional)

If you’d like to layer designer paper onto a cardstock base, cut:

  • Six pieces measuring 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" squares.

These panels fit perfectly on each outside section of the basket for added color and texture.

🪄 Basket Handle

  • Cardstock strip: 6" x 3/4"

  • Designer paper layer: 6" x 1/2"

Adhere the designer paper strip to the cardstock handle, then attach to the inside of the basket to finish it off beautifully.

🎥 Watch the Step-by-Step Video

I made a YouTube video several years ago showing exactly how to create this basket step by step. If you’re a visual learner, pop on over and watch the tutorial!

Sweet Bugs Mini Slimline Card For Craft Roulette Episode 307

If you love a creative challenge, you know I can’t resist playing along with Craft Roulette! Episode 307 had such fun parameters, and I was excited to dive in.

Craft Roulette airs live on YouTube every Friday evening at 6:10 PM Central Time with host Mary Gunn. The spin of the wheel dictates the parameters — which means every week is completely different. That’s part of the magic!

Episode 307 Parameters

  • Project: Mini Slimline Card

  • Size: 3 1/2" x 6"

  • Colors: Fungi

  • Element: Fruit

  • Random: Two-Toned

My Mini Slimline Card

Mini Slimline cards are one of my absolute favorites — and this one measures 3 1/2" x 6". One of the best things about this size is that it fits perfectly in a standard #6 envelope (3.63" x 6.5"). These envelopes are available almost anywhere envelopes are sold because they’re such a standard size. Easy and practical? Yes, please!

Colors – Fungi

For the “Fungi” color prompt, I incorporated:

  • Red

  • Yellow

  • Rust

  • Purple

  • Green

All beautiful mushroom-inspired tones that worked perfectly together!

Element – Fruit

My Designer Series Paper background features blackberries and strawberries, which satisfied the “Fruit” requirement beautifully. The sweet berry pattern adds just the right pop behind the focal elements.

Random – Two Toned

To meet the “Two-Toned” parameter,  the leaves, ant, and caterpillar were all two-toned. I love how that subtle detail adds extra dimension and visual interest.

Supplies & Details

I used the adorable Sweet Bugs Bundle (such a delightful set!). The ant, caterpillar, and mushrooms were cut directly from the coordinating Cute As A Bug Designer Series Paper. I always enjoy a paper with matching die cuts — it lets those cute images shine!

For the sentiment, I used a strip from Simple Stories that I had in my stash. It paired perfectly with the whimsical feel of the card.

Why I Love Mini Slimline Cards

Mini Slimline cards are:

  • A unique shape

  • Easy to design

  • Perfect for showcasing patterned paper

  • Compatible with standard #6 envelopes

One of my most popular YouTube videos shows my take on making Mini Slimline cards. Hop on over and take a look at this!

Craft Roulette is such a fun creative outlet because the wheel spin pushes you to think outside the box. I hope you’ll join us one Friday evening and play along — you never know what the wheel will decide next!

Hop Into Spring Card Making Class

Spring is right around the corner, and I’m so excited to share a peek at the two cards we’ll be creating in our upcoming Hop Into Spring Card Making Class! These projects are full of cheerful colors, sweet critters, and whimsical details that are sure to make you smile.

For both cards, I used the beautiful Easter Basket Bundle paired with the coordinating Easter Joy Specialty Designer Series Paper. The paper is absolutely gorgeous and adds the perfect soft, springtime touch to each design.

Card One – Easel Card

Our first project is a fun Easel Card! I just love interactive cards, and this one really shows off the playful elements in the bundle.

The adorable little bee and watering can are from the Sweet Bugs Bundle — such sweet additions that bring even more personality to the scene. All of the critters are mounted on a piece of Basic White cardstock that I embossed using the Beautiful Panels Embossing Folder. The texture adds wonderful dimension and really makes the images pop.

Be sure to check out the cute embellishments along the bottom of the card! They’re from the Easter Assortment pack and add just the right finishing touch. Those tiny details make all the difference!

Card Two – Whimsical Spring Fun

Our second card continues the spring theme and is just as delightful. With layers of the Easter Joy paper, sweet stamped images, and thoughtful embellishments, it’s another project filled with charming details. Both cards truly capture the joy and freshness of the season.

These designs are perfect for Easter greetings or simply celebrating spring with someone special.
