Easy Fun Fold Card Featuring Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper

Today’s card is an easy Fun Fold design that showcases the beautiful Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper. The sweet bird on the front is fussy cut directly from the paper, creating an effortless focal point with lots of charm. The sentiment is from the stamp set included in my 12 Days of Crafting Advent Calendar, but you can substitute any sentiment you love.

One of the best things about this Fun Fold is its versatility. Simply switch out the patterned paper, and you can create this card for any season or occasion.

Measurements

Basic Black Card Base
• 5-1/2" x 4-1/4"

Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper
• 12" x 4"
• Score at 2-1/2" and 6-3/4"
• Fold along the score lines to create a simple Z-fold

Inside Panel

Craft Roulette Episode 293 – Nests of Winter Book Binding Card (Portrait Style!)

For Craft Roulette Episode 293, the wheel served up a really fun set of parameters! The project was a Book Binding Card, but I decided to change up the traditional look by creating mine in portrait orientation instead of landscape. It’s such a simple switch, but it completely transforms the feel of the card!

The Parameters

🟨 Project: Book Binding Card
πŸŸ₯ Colors: Sandwich Shop (Red Ketchup, Mustard Yellow, Pickle Green, Napkin Blue)
🟦 Element: Music
🟧 Random: Wrap(s)(ing)

My Card Details

Since the element was music, I added a narrow strip of sheet music right along the top binding. To include the random parameter, I also wrapped gold thread around the binding area before sealing it down—just a small detail that makes a big impact.

The sweet birds come from the Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper, and I fussy-cut them before popping them up on a Stylish Shapes circle. Before adding the birds, I lightly stamped an image from Gallery Blooms in Crushed Curry to give the circle some extra depth and interest.

That circle is layered onto a 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" piece of Country Woods DSP, embossed with the Birch Wood Embossing Folder for texture. Behind that sits a 4" x 4" Basic Black layer that frames everything perfectly.
For a touch of greenery, I added Summer Splash leaves cut with the leaf die from the Hug Abloom Paper Pumpkin Add-On.

How to Make This Easy Book Binding Fun Fold

This fun fold looks fancy but comes together quickly:

  1. Start with a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of cardstock.

  2. Score at 4 1/2" and 5 1/2".

  3. Fold the card in half like normal at 5 1/2".

  4. Then fold the front flap backward along the 4 1/2" score line.

  5. Add any ribbon, twine, or thread wraps to the top section before gluing.

  6. Glue down only the 1-inch top section to create the “book binding.”

  7. Decorate the front panel as desired!

This layout is incredibly versatile—once you make one, you’ll want to make a dozen!

Craft Roulette Episode 292 – Encouragement Card

This week’s Craft Roulette challenge (Episode 292) was such a fun one! The parameters were:

  • Project: Encouragement Card

  • Colors: Sophisticated (I chose Pink, Black, and Grey)

  • Element: House Pet

  • Random: Thread or Twine

I love how these prompts work together to inspire creativity in unexpected ways. For my encouragement card, I used a heartwarming sentiment from the Label Me Grateful stamp set — perfect for lifting someone’s spirits. The sentiment is stamped on the smallest die from the Perennial Postage die set, which added just the right touch of detail.

To represent the House Pet element, I included a sweet dog image on the front of my card. It pairs beautifully with the soft pink tones and elegant greys for that sophisticated look.

A Simple Bookbinding Fun Fold

I decided to make a Bookbinding Card, one of my favorite simple fun folds. These are quick to create and work for any occasion!

Here are the measurements if you’d like to try one yourself:

  • Start with a half sheet of cardstock measuring 4 1/4" x 11".

  • Score at 4 1/4" and 5 1/2".

  • Designer paper sizes: 1" x 4" and 3 3/4" x 3 3/4".

  • The front panel is layered on a 4" x 4" piece of cardstock.

  • You’ll also need a 4" x 4" piece for the inside (for your message).

After scoring, glue the 1 1/4" hinge section shut to create the “book binding” edge. Then attach your panels and embellish as desired. I tucked a bit of black twine under the sentiment to meet the “thread or twine” parameter and to add some subtle texture.

Final Thoughts

This card came together beautifully — a great reminder that encouragement cards don’t have to be complicated to be meaningful.

If you haven’t checked out Craft Roulette yet, you should! It airs every Friday evening at 6:10 PM Central Time on YouTube, and it’s such a fun way to stretch your creativity and think outside your crafty box.

  • Designer Series Paper: Retired

πŸŽ‰ Birthday Card with Flip Flaps for My Granddaughter! πŸ’–

I had so much fun creating a special birthday card for my granddaughter using Flip Flaps! If you haven’t tried these before, you’re missing out on one of the most fun and interactive additions to your crafting toolkit.

What Are Flip Flaps?

Flip Flaps are exactly what they sound like—flaps that flip to reveal extra photos, sentiments, or designs! They come with a self-adhesive strip, which means you can attach them anywhere on your card or scrapbook page.

Flip Flaps are:

  • ✅ Photo safe – so your memories last for years to come.

  • ✅ Protective – they help keep your photos and embellishments safe.

  • ✅ Interactive – turning your project into a fun, layered experience!

They come 12 to a pack, and you can choose from 4 different sizes and orientations, depending on your design needs.

My Project Details ✂️

For this card, I used:

I attached the Flip Flaps to the top right side of my card using their built-in adhesive strip—so easy! Once they were in place, I was able to tuck in some sweet photos, birthday sentiments, and a few decorative papers to make it truly personal.

Why I Loved This Project πŸ’•

This was such a fun and meaningful project to make! The interactive element made the card feel extra special, and it gave me room to include more photos and messages than a traditional flat card.

And since this was a special two-digit birthday for my granddaughter, I wanted to create something she could treasure and look back on for years to come.

If you’re looking for a way to add more joy, dimension, and interaction to your cards or scrapbook layouts, I highly recommend giving Flip Flaps a try!

CASE-ing Tuesday #536 with the Branching Out Bundle 🌿

 Hi everyone!

I’m excited to share my latest projects for the CASE-ing Tuesday Sketch Challenge #536! If you’re not familiar, CASE-ing Tuesday is a fun Facebook challenge group that chooses a Stampin’ Up!® sample sketch every two weeks—complete with measurements—to inspire your creativity.

This week, I used the beautiful Branching Out Bundle to create two nature-inspired cards, both with slightly different takes on the sketch (I even flipped the design for my second one!).

πŸƒ Card One – Nests of Winter & Birch Texture

For my first card, I started with a background layer from the Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper Pack, which I embossed using the Birch Embossing Folder for a subtle woodland texture.

The little bird was carefully cut from one of the DSP sheets—it adds such a sweet, natural touch!

I stamped the branch in Early Espresso, the fir tufts in Shaded Spruce, and added pinecones die-cut from Pecan Pie cardstock. The berries are in Real Red, and the pine tufts are Shaded Spruce for that rich, wintery depth.

This card feels cozy and festive—perfect for the upcoming holiday season!

🌲 Card Two – Peaceful Greenery with a Twist

For my second card, I decided to invert the sketch for a fresh look. The background layer is embossed with the Peaceful Greenery Embossing Folder on Mossy Meadow cardstock, which gives such gorgeous texture and tone-on-tone elegance.

I used Mossy Meadow and Pecan Pie to stamp the images directly on the Basic Beige die-cut from the Branching Out Dies—a perfect neutral for highlighting stamped details.

The sentiment banner features two brand-new Online Exclusive products available starting November 4th:

  • 🏷️ Banner Sayings Stamp Set

  • πŸŽ‰ Three Banner Punch

Both are absolute must-haves! I can already tell these will become regulars in my craft lineup—you’ll be seeing them again soon.

πŸ’Œ Join the Fun!

If you haven’t joined the CASE-ing Tuesday Facebook group, I highly recommend it! The sketches are inspiring, the community is welcoming, and it’s a great way to stretch your creative muscles.

Thanks for stopping by today! I’d love to know—which card do you like best, the embossed Winterly Bird or the peaceful greenery version? Drop a comment below and let me know!

Until next time, happy stamping!

Card Chaos Episode 18 – Mixed Media Challenge With Perfectly Pears

This week’s Card Chaos theme was Mixed Media — and let me tell you, that is totally not in my wheelhouse! Mixed Media combines two or more different materials into a single artwork, and while that usually feels a bit out of my comfort zone, I decided to jump in and give it a go.

I started with a Mossy Meadow layer embossed with the Peaceful Greenery folder for rich texture. On top of that, I added a grid design paper from the Painterly Pears pack. Using a leaf stencil and a Blender Brush with Mossy Meadow ink, I brought in even more depth and dimension.

For the sentiment, I punched a piece of Basic Beige cardstock with the Modern Oval Punch, then dipped the edges in VersaMark and heat embossed them with gold embossing powder for a touch of shine. The pear and flowers, also from Painterly Pears, were fussy cut and layered for extra interest. I finished it off with Linen Thread tied neatly at the top.

Even though Mixed Media isn’t something I usually do, I really like how this card turned out! Sometimes stepping outside your comfort zone brings surprising results.

πŸ•– Card Chaos airs Mondays at 7 PM Eastern on my YouTube channel. The challenge? Create a themed card in just 15 minutes! Mine took a little longer this time — but now I’m inspired to dabble in Mixed Media more often.
