Quilted Rag Purse

I took the plunge! I've been seeing these fabulous quilted rag purses online, and have had the material for quite a while to make one. Mine is a small version made for my niece's daughter who turns six in May. I was surprised to find that the material I purchased at a local Joanne's store is by Heidi Grace. I've always liked HG paper crafting goodies, and was happy she decided to branch out. I used my Bigz Clear Large Scallop Square die by Stampin' Up to cut the squares. It takes up to eight layers of material at a time. I followed the video tutorial by Angie Juda Kennedy, my talented up line. It took me about 3 1/2 hours from start to finish. I was also pleased that I was able to use my little Janome Mini. I have a regular sewing machine, but it's harder to get to because it's stored. I will probably add a felt or fabric flower to the right hand side. The project wasn't too difficult, thank goodness. My other niece's daughter has a birthday coming up in September so I'll have to make her one as well.

My two orchids that are blooming are incredibly gorgeous so I thought I would include them in the picture also. Have a beautiful Sunday afternoon!
