Craft Roulette Episode 342 – Little Red Riding Hood Meets Christmas Paper!

It’s time for another Craft Roulette challenge! For Episode 342, I created a fun 4 Bar card using scraps from the Timeless Christmas Designer Series Paper Pack. This week’s parameters challenged me to think outside the box, and I had fun bringing them together with a gingerbread man front and center!

Craft Roulette Episode 342 Parameters

Here are the four parameters from this week’s spin of the wheel:

  • Project: 4 Bar – A notecard-size card measuring 3 1/2" x 5" (5" x 7" before folding in half).

  • Colors: Fairy Tale – I used red, green, browns, and white to represent Little Red Riding Hood.

  • Element: Kid’s Book – My gingerbread man takes center stage as a nod to the storybook theme.

  • Random: Paper Clip – I stamped a paper clip image from the Craft Roulette The Basics Stamp Set onto the little heart in the bottom right corner of my card.

Creating the Card

I started with a 3 1/4" x 4 3/4" piece of Basic White cardstock and some scraps from the Timeless Christmas Designer Series Paper Pack. Most of my strips were 1/2" wide, but I varied the widths to add interest.

To create the background, I adhered the paper strips in diagonal rows along the bottom of the cardstock, working horizontally. Then I added strips vertically across the top third of the panel. Once everything was in place, I trimmed off the excess paper along the edges.

I mounted the finished panel onto a Poppy Parade card base. Since I used a dark cardstock for my base, I added a Basic White layer inside for writing my sentiment. You can use another 3 1/4" x 4 3/4" panel for the inside.

Adding the Gingerbread Man Focal Point

For my focal point, I stamped an image from the Round About Messages Stamp Set in Peaceful Pine ink. I punched it out with a 1 7/8" Circle Punch and layered it onto a ribbed Peaceful Pine circle cut with the Spotlight on Nature Dies.

I attached the layered circle to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals to give it a little extra dimension.

The finishing touch was the little heart in the bottom right corner, where I stamped the paper clip image from the Craft Roulette The Basics Stamp Set to meet the random parameter.

I love how the Christmas Designer Series Paper scraps bring together the colors of this challenge while the gingerbread man adds a playful, storybook feel!

I have a Youtube video showing this colorful card here:
