Craft Roulette Episode 341 – Twisted Easel Book Binding Card

Are you ready for another Craft Roulette challenge? For Episode 341, I created a Twisted Easel Book Binding Cardfeaturing a beautiful coastal scene. This was such a fun way to combine a couple of different card folds with some of my favorite coastal-themed products!

If you haven't watched Craft Roulette, it's a cardmaking challenge show that airs on YouTube every Friday evening at 7:10 PM Eastern Time. The spin of the wheel determines four parameters you must incorporate into your project. It's a great way to step outside your crafty comfort zone and try something new!

The Four Craft Roulette Parameters

Here’s how I incorporated the four parameters from Episode 341 into my card.

Project: Card with 2 Folds

I combined a book binding fold with a twisted easel fold to create this fun card design. The card base is made from an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of Night of Navy cardstock. I scored it at 4 1/4" and 5 1/2", just like a standard book binding card. Then I scored diagonally from the bottom left of the front panel to the top right to create the twisted easel.

Want to make one yourself? I have a YouTube video showing the measurements and how to create the card base!

Colors: Planet

For this parameter, I chose the Scenic Coast 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper. The beautiful coastal scene reminded me of planet Earth, with its gorgeous blue water and scenic landscape.

Element: Beautiful

The coastal scene on the Scenic Coast Designer Series Paper was the perfect way to meet this parameter. I love how the scenery creates such a peaceful, beautiful focal point for the card.

Random: Wonky

The twisted easel fold was a natural fit for this parameter! The diagonal fold gives the card its wonky twist and allows it to stand open for display.

Finishing Touches

I added a sentiment using the Sweetly Sentimental Hot Foil Dies and used the Sunset Coast Dies to create the ship, lighthouse, and net. These coastal details complement the designer paper beautifully.

An actual seashell serves as the stopper to hold the easel in place when the card is open. I finished everything off with five Sunset Sparkle Sequins for a little extra shine.

Here's a shopping tip! The Sweetly Sentimental Hot Foil Dies and Sunset Coast Dies are both on sale for 15% off October 21–23, so it's a great time to check them out!
