Craft Roulette Episode 266: "Sailing into New Horizons" Graduation Card

This week on Craft Roulette Episode 266, the wheel gave us some fun and inspiring parameters to work with:
🎨 Project – A7 Card (5" x 7")

Our guests were none other than the talented Gina and Rina K, which made it even more exciting to craft along!

🌊 My Card: A Nautical Graduation Adventure

While the prompt called for an A7 card, I had an A2 card front already designed with a Shy Shamrock base, and I loved how it turned out—so I simply attached it to a 5" x 7" Basic White panel to meet the size requirement. Voilà, A7 accomplished!

I stuck with blues and greens, inspired by the soft, natural hues you'd find in a floral wreath. The palette feels both peaceful and celebratory—perfect for a graduation theme.

⛵ Song-Inspired: Sailing by Christopher Cross

To meet the lyrics element, I took a cue from the serene sailboat scene I was creating and built the theme around the classic song Sailing by Christopher Cross. The dreamy, hopeful tone of the lyrics tied in perfectly with the idea of new beginnings and navigating toward the future.

🕊️ Cinco Twist: Five Gulls for the Win

For the Cinco element, I placed three seagulls soaring above the sailboat on the card front and two more tucked inside the card—bringing the total to five. Subtle, but effective!

🌅 Featuring the Sunrise Sailing Bundle

The star of this project is the new Sunrise Sailing Bundle, which couldn't have been more fitting for a graduation card. I customized it with the graduate’s school colors, adding a personal and meaningful touch.

The Sunrise Sailing Hybrid Embossing Folder, in one of the new In Colors, ( Cloud Cover), created a stunning backdrop for the sailboat scene. I added some White Craft ink to highlight the clouds and used Night of Navy on the waves with sponge daubers for added depth and movement.

This card was such a joy to make—between the meaningful song lyrics, the symbolic sailboat, and those five cheeky gulls, I feel like this card truly captures the feeling of setting sail into life’s next big adventure.
