I'm so excited to share my submission for Craft Roulette, Episode 267, hosted by the always-inspiring Mary Gunn with this week’s guest, Brennan Keane! This episode’s creative challenge brought together four fabulous parameters:
Project: 4Bar Card (3 1/2" x 5")
Colors: Craft Store
Element: Sew(s)(ing)/Sewn
Random: Stencil
These prompts got my wheels turning, and I’m thrilled with how my card turned out!
🎨 My Creative Process
I started with a Crumb Cake card base — one of my go-to neutrals that fits perfectly within a natural, craft-store-inspired color palette. The 4Bar size (3.5" x 5") made for a sweet little canvas to build on.
For the Stencil element, I pulled out a Taylored Expressions stencil and softly blended Lost Lagoon ink across the background. This gave the card a subtle, textured look that set the tone without overpowering the design.
To meet the Sewing/Sewn requirement, I used a small square of Timeless Plaid designer series paper. The stitched pattern on the paper added that "sewn" element — without pulling out the sewing machine!
The star of the show is the adorable parrot from the new Feathered Fun stamp set. I colored this cheerful guy using Stampin’ Blends, giving him personality and a pop of color that complements the natural tones beautifully.
I also tucked in a vellum flower and a sentiment strip from my stash — perfect little details that made the card feel complete. To carry the design through, I stenciled a coordinating pattern on the inside of the card and the envelope, which really brought it all together with a touch of flair!
