t’s time for this month’s Mini Slimline Instagram Hop, and I’m excited to share the cheerful birthday card I created! If you’re new to mini slimline cards, here’s the fun part: there isn’t just one “right” size. Some crafters fold a 6" x 6" piece of cardstock, others prefer 6" x 7"—but no matter how we get there, our finished creations always tuck perfectly into a 3.75" x 6.5" envelope. It’s such a playful, versatile size to work with!
For my card, I used a Thick Basic White card base, cut to 7" x 6", scored in half at 3 1/2". The star of the background is the Dots & Stripes Paper Pack, a prize I won in a challenge a few months back. I cut the patterned paper into 1/2" strips—four horizontal strips at 5" long and four vertical strips at 2 3/4" long—and then wove them together right on the card front for a fun, textured look.
The Cake Day Bundle was the perfect pairing for this bright, happy layout. I stamped the Yay! sentiment onto the 4th-largest Stylish Shapes circle, then layered it onto the 3rd-largest square from the same die set. To finish everything off, I added five Loose Gold Sequins, along with a touch of Wink of Stella brushed over the gold bursts for an extra festive sparkle.
