Card Chaos Live – Episode 11: Tone on Tone Challenge

This week I joined in the fun for Card Chaos Live, Episode 11, hosted by my Craft Roulette friend, Irene Smith. Each week, Irene invites a guest to her YouTube show, and together they take turns trying to create a card in just 15 minutes. Yes—you read that right—15 minutes! This week’s guest was Deana Glenz, and the theme was Tone on Tone.

Anyone can play along, and some participants even manage to create two cards during the time limit! I’m not that speedy, but I did manage to finish mine with just a few seconds to spare.

Here’s what I came up with:

✨ My Card Details

  • Color Choice: I went with Garden Green Tone on Tone (no surprise since green is one of my favorite colors!).

  • Layout: I used three 1 ½” x 4 ½” strips from the Lovely Garden Designer Paper Pack and adhered them to a 5 ¼” x 4” Basic White panel, which I embossed using the retired Subtle Embossing Folder.

  • Focal Point: I die cut a Garden Green circle with the Spotlight on Nature Dies and layered it with a Basic White circle cut from a Stitched Shapes Die.

  • Sentiment: From the Peace on Earth stamp set, stamped in Garden Green ink.

  • Details & Embellishments:

    • Two vellum leaves cut from the Hugs Abloom Paper Pumpkin Die Add-On (watch for a new add-on set releasing September 11th!).

    • A few loops of Garden Green Twine tucked behind the circle.

    • Finished with three Brushed Brass Butterflies for just the right touch of shine.

I love how it turned out—it feels fresh, elegant, and perfectly “me” with all that green! 🌿

If you haven’t checked out Card Chaos Live yet, I highly recommend it. It’s a little chaotic (as the name suggests!), but it’s also so satisfying to see what you can create under a time crunch. You can catch the show every Monday at 6pm Central Time on Irene’s YouTube channel.
