Craft Roulette Episode 324 – Horizontal Easel Card
It's time for another Craft Roulette challenge! For Episode 324, the parameters were:
- Project: Easel Card
- Colors: Craft Store
- Element: Table
- Random: Add a Bug(s)
I created a Horizontal Easel Card using products from the adorable Silly Old Bear Suite. Sometimes the perfect card starts with the perfect paper, and that's exactly what happened this week. The Designer Series Paper included a scene panel that fit the parameters beautifully.
For the Craft Store color theme, all of my colors were inspired by what you might find in the paper aisle of your favorite craft store. The cheerful colors in the Silly Old Bear paper worked perfectly for this challenge.
The Table element was easy to incorporate because the Pooh characters are gathered around a table, enjoying time together. For the Add a Bug(s) parameter, I added a sweet little bee trinket to the leaf in the lower left corner of the card.
If you've never made an Easel Card before, don't let the fun fold scare you. Easel Cards are actually one of the easiest fun folds to create!
For this horizontal version, I started with a piece of cardstock measuring 5-1/2" x 8-1/2". Score and fold it in half at 4-1/4", then fold the front panel in half again at 2-1/8". That's the basic easel mechanism! Simply add a panel to the lower portion of the card front and create a decorative "stopper" to hold the easel upright when displayed.
I love fun folds that look impressive but are simple to make, and this design definitely fits the bill.
If you're not familiar with Craft Roulette, it airs live every Friday at 6:10 PM Central Time on YouTube. Each week four random parameters are spun, and crafters around the world create projects inspired by the results. It's a fun, creative challenge and a wonderful community to be part of.
Thanks for stopping by! I'd love to hear if you've made an Easel Card before, and if not, I hope you'll give this easy fun fold a try.
