This week’s Card Chaos theme was Mixed Media — and let me tell you, that is totally not in my wheelhouse! Mixed Media combines two or more different materials into a single artwork, and while that usually feels a bit out of my comfort zone, I decided to jump in and give it a go.
I started with a Mossy Meadow layer embossed with the Peaceful Greenery folder for rich texture. On top of that, I added a grid design paper from the Painterly Pears pack. Using a leaf stencil and a Blender Brush with Mossy Meadow ink, I brought in even more depth and dimension.
For the sentiment, I punched a piece of Basic Beige cardstock with the Modern Oval Punch, then dipped the edges in VersaMark and heat embossed them with gold embossing powder for a touch of shine. The pear and flowers, also from Painterly Pears, were fussy cut and layered for extra interest. I finished it off with Linen Thread tied neatly at the top.
Even though Mixed Media isn’t something I usually do, I really like how this card turned out! Sometimes stepping outside your comfort zone brings surprising results.
🕖 Card Chaos airs Mondays at 7 PM Eastern on my YouTube channel. The challenge? Create a themed card in just 15 minutes! Mine took a little longer this time — but now I’m inspired to dabble in Mixed Media more often.
